A service business sending a regular newsletter
Shortlist MailerLite if your main task is assembling recurring updates and you want to evaluate another editor. Recreate your actual layout: introduction, two service links and one booking action. Our MailerLite versus Kit article separates external reviewers’ editor opinions from our own capacity calculations. We have not tested either editor ourselves.
A business managing different customer groups
Shortlist Brevo when you want to investigate customer records alongside campaigns. Specify the data that matters, such as service category or language, then confirm how it is imported and used. A product offering many channels is not automatically better: every extra channel also needs a clear purpose and operating process.
Write down what Kit already does well for you
Before moving, inventory signup forms, embedded links, paid content, automation triggers and integrations. Mark anything that would interrupt sales or subscriber access if it stopped working. Check replacement support directly; never assume similarly named features preserve the same behaviour or data.
Do not pay to solve a problem you do not have
If your current newsletter works within Kit’s free broadcast offer, another paid subscription needs a concrete benefit. Estimate the monthly time saved or name a missing workflow. Our costs guide provides an audience-based starting point, but a lower bill alone does not establish that another product fits your business.
A two-session comparison
In session one, build the same form and campaign in your shortlisted alternative with your own test addresses. In session two, return without your notes and update it as you would next month. This checks repeatability rather than first impressions. Record time spent and unresolved problems as your own test evidence.
Choose a reversible first step
Keep the initial evaluation separate from your live subscriber list. If the workflow passes, map consent and suppression fields and plan the transition. Retain exports securely and only as long as needed. Our recommendation is to compare a working task before committing to a migration, not to switch simply because another tool appears in a comparison.
