The key difference in the free allowances

Kit publishes a free allowance of up to 10,000 subscribers with unlimited email broadcasts. Brevo publishes storage for 100,000 contacts with a limit of 300 sends per day. A broadcast is a campaign sent to an audience; it is not a guarantee of unlimited automated workflows. Check the current official sources below before choosing.

A newsletter to 1,200 readers

If all 1,200 readers should receive the same issue on Tuesday, a daily cap of 300 does not fit the brief. Dividing 1,200 by 300 gives four sending days at full capacity, before other messages. Kit’s published broadcast allowance is the more relevant starting point for this scenario. You still need to check its content rules, account approval and the features your newsletter depends on.

A small customer update

If you have 180 customers and send one update on a given day, that campaign uses 180 sends. Adding 40 welcome messages brings the day to 220. In that scenario, Brevo’s published daily cap leaves some room. The practical question becomes whether your forms, contact fields and message templates are convenient enough for the person doing the work. We have not tested those workflows ourselves.

Broadcasts and automation deserve separate checks

A weekly newsletter and a sequence triggered by a purchase are different requirements. Sketch the exact sequence you need: what starts it, which fields it checks, what it sends and when it stops. Then check the relevant plan. Do not infer advanced automation capability from the word unlimited beside broadcasts.

Compare the upgrade you would actually buy

Imagine the first constraint you are likely to hit: a campaign deadline, a bigger audience, another editor or an integration. Get a quote for the plan that removes that constraint. Compare the complete billing term, not just the monthly equivalent of an annual payment. We do not publish a universal cheapest winner because the required plan varies with the workflow.

A migration checklist

Before exporting a live list, identify which fields record consent, subscription status and suppression. Check that the destination can preserve their meaning. Build a test segment with your own addresses, verify the signup and unsubscribe paths, and compare the exported fields before moving real subscribers. Avoid sending from both systems during the transition by accident.

Our decision

Investigate Kit first for a larger newsletter that must reach its audience together within a free subscription allowance. Investigate Brevo for smaller daily batches where the contact database and campaign size are different. Use a trial to resolve editor, integration and support questions; our calculations establish capacity constraints, not usability or delivery quality.
